School is wrapping up and the weather is getting warmer, summer is the perfect time to get out and do things with the family. Luckily Austin has a plethora of fun, family-friendly activities to keep y’all occupied. Here are the summer events we’re dying to go to in Austin this year.

Nature Nights at The Wildflower Center

Every Thursday in June The Ladybird Wildflower Center hosts the family-friendly Nature Nights event where you and the kids get to enjoy the natural splendor of Texas ecology mixed with fun and educational activity. With interactive presentations, hikes with experts, book readings, and nature crafts for kids your whole family will enjoy themselves while enjoying the beauty of a Texas summer night.

Admission is free for the whole family from 6pm-9pm and children 12 and younger receive a free gift from the store during the event. Every night has a different theme from the power of harnessing fire to the necessity of predators in our ecosystem. See the whole lineup here.

When: Every Thursday in June, 6-9pm
Where: 4801 La Crosse Ave. Austin, TX 78739

All Summer Long at The Long Center

Austin’s premier cultural arts center is at it again. All Summer Long is a series of fun, family-friendly events put on by The Long Center to get you and the kids through the season with a smile. Start the summer with Bubblepalooza on June 4th– enjoy live music, chalk art, food, drinks, and oodles and oodles of bubbles underneath the City Terrace. Or stop by for one of the many Sound & Cinema events—live music and movies in the park, what could be more Austin? And don’t go all summer without stopping by at least one Trailer Food Tuesday; there’s no better way to experience this many examples of local mobile cuisine.

You can get the full lineup of events here.

When: It’s in the name… All Summer Long!
Where: 701 W. Riverside Drive Austin, TX 78704

Texas Farmers’ Market at Mueller

Every Sunday Austin’s old airport turns into a family friendly market full of the best seasonal, local produce and goods available. The Texas Farmers’ Market at Mueller isn’t just a place to stock up on food for the week; it’s also a fun filled community gathering with activities for the whole family. Pony rides, story telling, and face painting have all made an appearance at Mueller, but you never know what a new week will bring. Plus, wandering around the vendors gives you a chance to teach the family about local farms and wholesome nutrition (and a chance to try all the samples!).

The Texas Farmers’ Market at Mueller is organized by nonprofit F2M Texas. They seek to provide Texan food producers with the opportunity to provide their good to Central Texans at convenient locations while teaching the public about the nutritional, economic, environmental, and social benefits of eating both seasonably and locally. And since the market is held underneath the historic Browning Hangar, the farmers’ market is an all-weather event—great for rainy May and super-sunny June.

When: Every Sunday, 10am-2pm
Where: 4209 Airport Blvd. Austin, TX 78722
