It is officially summer—what a great time to be in Austin, Texas! The weather is warm—to say the least—and there are tons of fun events happening all around the city perfect for the whole family. If you’re too exhausted from the 90+ degree heat to do a bunch of organizing, we feel you. That’s why we’ve compiled a short list of family-friendly ideas for things to do this summer in Austin.

Splash Party Movie Night at Deep Eddy Pool

When it’s hot out there are two things people love to do to cool off: going to the movies and taking a dip in some cold water. With Splash Party Movie Night at Deep Eddy Pool you can do both! Around dusk young and old gather around the iconic Austin swimming hole to watch latest releases as well as classic family favorites.

It’s free for Austin resident kids under 1, $1 per child 1-11, $2 for a junior (12-17) and only $3 for an adult. Check out the Deep Eddy Pool Do512 page for upcoming events and information.

Sunrise Yoga On the Dock

When was the last time your Sunrise Salutation actually saluted the sunrise? Take that peaceful experience and combine it with the challenge and fun of stand-up paddle boarding and you have a unique experience that allows you to start the weekend with a Zen buzz while experiencing the beauty of Town Lake.

Rowing Dock offers sunrise yoga classes on the dock select Friday mornings at 6am. You’ll start your morning with an invigorating yoga practice surrounded by the beauty and sounds of Lady Bird Lake. Classes are only $10 (a regular paddle board rental at any other time is somewhere around $40!) and the proceeds benefit Austin Pets Alive.
