Let’s be real—window washing probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think “interesting job.” But hear me out. There’s a whole world behind the squeegee. And for those of us who spend our days scrubbing, spraying, and hanging off the sides of buildings (yep, that’s a thing), it’s a job that’s equal parts grit, grace, and good stories.

The Start of a Satisfying Day
My mornings start early—usually before the sun’s even made it through the streaky windows I’ll be cleaning later. I load up the van with gear: poles, buckets, harnesses, and that magic soap mix I swear by. (No, I won’t tell you the recipe.) There’s something oddly peaceful about being the only one on a quiet street, prepping for a day of making the world a little shinier.

Every Window Tells a Story
Sometimes I’m on a charming old house with windows that haven’t been touched since the ‘90s. Other times, it’s a glass skyscraper with a killer view (and even scarier wind). I’ve seen pets try to “help” from the other side of the window. I’ve waved at toddlers who think I’m Spider-Man. And I’ve met homeowners who nearly cry when they realize they can actually see out of their windows again.

The High-Rise Hustle
Not going to lie—when I’m clipped into a harness 40 stories up, clinging to the side of a building like a squeegee-wielding superhero, it’s equal parts awesome and terrifying. But the views? Worth it every single time. Up there, it’s just you, the clouds, and a whole lot of glass. You’ve got to stay focused. One wrong move and—well, let’s not go there. But when you’re done? You look up and think, “Yeah. I did that.”

We Really Do It
Window washing isn’t glamorous. But it’s real. It’s satisfying. And it makes a difference. Clean windows change a space. They brighten a room, boost moods, and make people feel good. That’s the part I love the most, helping people literally see things more clearly.
